welcome to the Scoop on Nutrition WITH EMMA.
Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian
Emma Stirling is not your average APD. She’s a culinary nutrition trailblazer, academic, and consultant, dedicated to transforming how we teach, talk about, and taste food. With over 30 years in the field and a bold appetite for innovation, she’s shaping the future of food and nutrition—one delicious dish at a time.
Scoop Nutrition was launched way back on 27 February 2010 at the height of the blogging craze and fast became a go to site profiling Australian and International nutritionists and dietitians.
Weekly posts were published for over 7 years and the site was awarded the prestigious BUPA Health Influencer Blog Award – Healthy Eating Category in 2014. We went on to build Storehouse Blog Directory for over 100 nutrition professionals and also ran a highly successful Twitter chat in conjunction with Catherine Saxelby, called #EatKit.
As the fast changing world of social media influencers evolved so did my career and I am now a passionate academic and still involved in nutrition consulting with my Scoop team.
Today, Scoop Nutrition has morphed into my personal food diary and a platform to share news, views, events and updates on the emerging practice area of culinary nutrition. With a strong background in health writing and strategic nutrition communication your wellbeing info is in safe hands. And as a food lover, rest assured, we are heavy on taste.
There are so many exciting things to share, but by far the most rewarding aspect is hearing from and chatting with you. So don’t be shy. Drop me a comment anytime. With the fast pace of food and nutrition updates, perhaps you even have news for me? I can’t wait to hear from you.

Rewriting the Dietitian’s Toolkit
Culinary nutrition is more than a buzzword—it’s a shift in how we practice, teach, and influence. For Emma, it started with a hunger for something more—a way to fuse her passion for food with the power of evidence-based practice. Today, she leads the charge at ACU, helping dietitians upskill with hands-on culinary training and a strong scientific foundation.
From food service to public health, private practice to social media, this approach adds colour, texture, and taste to your career. Whether you're just starting out or seeking a fresh path, Emma’s advice? Stay curious, get cooking, and know that joy is a nutrient too.
“Culinary nutrition is not a trend—it’s a toolkit for modern practice. One that makes nutrition science edible, joyful, and sustainable.”
